Have you ever been put in the awkward position of being asked out by someone you wouldn’t consider dating?
When I was about 20 I was working at a job that was affiliated with an employment skills training program for mentally challenged young adults between 18-24. After completing thier training they were placed at a job and earned a paycheck just like everyone else, it was a pretty decent program.
Anyway so there I was 20 years old and I was the boss of a bunch of retards. We’d work all day and then in the evening I’d make sure they were all picked up and taken home. I found out in time that I was regarded as not only the “nice” guy to work for but I was also considered the “cute” one amongst the supervisors at the job. As a result I was frequently asked out by retarded girls. There’s just no way you can understand the awkwardness of this situation unless you have had it happen to you. It usually went something like this:
“Will, would you like to go out sometime?”
-”Ummm…….I don’t think I can.”
“Are you busy?”
- “Very busy, and….I have a girlfriend.”
“Oh, OK.”
-”Don’t forget to put your mittens on, it’s cold.”

I think it’s sweet they asked you out. Shouldn’t you have a little more sensitivity than calling them retards, considering you got to know them as people?
